My favoured career choice in the game industry:
At the moment, my favoured career choice is story
development. I really enjoy this part of the industry at it allows me to be
creative, and let my imagination flow. I enjoy all of the aspects, such as
creating the biographies for each character and though showering ideas I have.
I would enjoy working for a company as part of a story developing team, working
on characters and story lines. Skills include the ability to create characters,
plots and ideas to a very detailed stage, as then the ideas can be expanded
upon and used to their full extent. Also, to create an idea which is unique and
enjoyable is a skill required. For example, characters such as Alex from Half
Life 2 have a very unique personality, in which you can almost predict there
personality as it is so dominant. This is a trait of a good story developer as
it shows they have put a lot of thought into how the character is shown to the
audience. This is the part I would enjoy, as I like to put a lot of effort into
minor details. I also enjoy 3D design, as it is a creative choice also. It
challenges me to create realistic objects simply from reference, such as
weapons and scenery. If a game had poor 3D design, many objects will not look
in perspective or fit into the game. This would challenge me to create the “perfect”
object.
In this link is a post to a job advertisement for a game designer,
who will need to script the game and help design the environment. The
requirements for this job are: keep on top of deadlines, be able to perceive as
an artist and a programmer, design realistic game sets, plan the setting and
scripting for the game and an experience in 3D and Scripting. I would also need
a degree in the games field and 4 years’ experience as a games designer.

week of work experience in April 2008. After working for a year I got promoted
to Shift Leader, then Supervisor.

Shakin’ It is a very socialising
